Discover your options and decide on a path to satisfaction and success. Choosing a major is an important decision that involves many factors, including self-understanding, research, reality testing, and the desire to excel. The tools and resources provided here can help you achieve your goals.

Toolbox—Self-Exploration

Start with your preferences and interests in sorting through the vast number of ASU majors and in making decisions about the areas you would like to pursue. Students who choose majors and careers in areas in which they have strong interests are much more likely to persist and be successful.

Step #1—Discover

Identify the majors and careers that relate to your distinct interests, values, and abilities and find out as much as you can about the options that make sense for you. Interview people who work in the field you are considering.

Step #2—Decide

Reflect on and analyze all the information you have collected to build a plan of action. The goal is to make an informed choice that is appropriate for you.

Continuing students: Contact an advisor in the major in which you are interested to determine eligibility and to complete the change of major process.
