man exploring in caveSelf-assessment is a discovery process that allows you to better understand yourself. You can identify your interests, skills, and values through self-exploration and assessments. Self-Exploration: Make a list of your occupational daydreams. What do you really enjoy? What motivates you? What does being successful mean to you? If you could have any job possible, what would that job be? What skills do you want to use and what skills do you want to develop? Choose classes and activities that interest you. Be aware of your surroundings and notice what attracts your interest. Join student activity groups. There are many student activity groups at ASU centered on various interests and causes. Involvement in these groups and the activities and/or volunteer work they sponsor can help you as you explore your career interests.

Assessments

Assessments can help clarify your interests, values, and preferences and how they relate to particular majors and careers. The Kuder Career Assessment is an interest inventory that gives you a summary of your interests and points to ASU majors to consider. You can also determine which ASU majors you may want to explore based on the Federal Clusters which interest you most.

Additional Assessments

ASU Virtual Counseling Center—Career assessments and planning, with additional resources on science, technology, engineering and mathematics related interests.
Community College of Rhode Island
—Exercises on self-exploration.
