The Arizona READS Vision:
We believe that all Arizonans can and should read independently by the end of elementary school, and that all Arizonans should be supported in their efforts to become literate.
The Arizona READS Mission:
As every Arizonan needs to know how to read and to do so independently, Arizona Reads commits to assist in making this a reality.
The Arizona READS Goals:
1. 100% of Program participants will demonstrate increased literacy skills upon program completion.
2. 85% of Program participants will demonstrate a more positive attitude toward reading upon program completion
On September 15, 1998, a number of interested individuals and organizations met in Phoenix under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Education's Region IX office to form an Arizona READS Roundtable. This consortia meets on a regular basis to better coordinate America Reads activities in Arizona. It uses this web site to facilitate these activities.
The America Reads Challenge:
To support teachers and help ensure that every American child can read well and independently by the end of the third grade.
