The following Web site is designed for University College Exploratory students whose GPA is below Academic Good Standing. In no way is all the information presented here intended as a substitute for academic advising. Rather, this site is intended as a resource for any student wishing to improve their academic performance.
Any Exploratory student with a GPA below Academic Good Standing is placed on probation and must complete the following homework assignment in order to be cleared for registration.
To begin the process of improving your GPA, it’s important to know where you stand academically. The first thing you must do is run a Degree Audit Report (DARS) to find your completed courses towards General Studies, critical tracking requirements, total earned credit hours, semester GPA, and cumulative GPA. You can run a DARS (Degree Audit Report) by accessing your MyASU site.
Academic Good Standing for degree-seeking students is defined as shown in the table below.
| Academic Good Standing | |
| Total Earned Hours | Minimum Cumulative GPA |
| 24 or fewer | 1.60 |
| 25 – 55 | 1.75 |
| 56 – 86 | 2.00 |
A student who does not maintain the minimum GPA standard is placed on Academic Probation or is disqualified.
Students on Academic Probation will have one semester to raise their semester GPA to meet the above standards. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the university. Raising your semester GPA to the above standard places you on continued probation. Once your cumulative (overall) GPA meets the above standard, you will be off probation.
Your cumulative GPA is reviewed twice each year, in May and December (after spring and fall semester). Therefore, grades earned during summer session, winter session, or academic grade changes (such as incompletes) are not considered until the next review period. This means that even if your summer grades, for example, improve your GPA to above 2.0, you will remain on probation until after your fall grades are posted and reviewed.
To transfer from one college to another within the university or to
be eligible for readmission, a student must be in Good Academic Standing
as defined above. Some colleges may have higher GPA requirements; otherwise,
the university standards prevail. GPA determining good standing is
computed on courses taken only at ASU.
