Peer Advisor Description and Benefits

Description:

The Peer Advisor for University College Academic Advising will have all or part of the following duties: assist in front office coverage to make phone calls to students reminding of scheduled appointments, retention efforts, etc; hold lobby hours to assist students waiting for advising appointments to review MyASU functions, major maps, DARS, e-mail setup, etc.; participate in orientation programs to assist new students with course scheduling activities; participate in orientation preparation phone calls to new UC students; participate in advising-related workshops in offices, residential communities, etc.

Training for Peer Advisors will be a collaborative effort utilizing online course instruction, in-person training, and ongoing development activities. Supervision: Peer Advisors will report to an advisor who has coordinating responsibilities for Peer Advisor activities on the specific campus.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Have declared a major at ASU.
  • Have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Have completed 25+ credit hours prior to position start date.
  • Have an desire to assist students exploring their major options.

Benefits:

  • Participate in a 1-credit hour/semester leadership course.
  • Earn $8.25 per hour for 10 to 12 hours per week.
